Are You Hard to Fit for Contact Lenses?
Eye Wares offers contact lens fitting for individuals that are “hard to fit.” There are some cases wherein clients will have a harder time getting fitted for their contact lenses due to medical conditions, sensitivity or problems with their vision.
Some of the most common reasons include:
- Dry Eyes: For individuals who have dry eyes, the lack of lubrication in the eyes can be worsened when they use contact lenses. This means that wearing contact lenses may feel uncomfortable, which is why these people are considered “hard to fit”. Eye Wares offers options for people with dry eyes, ensuring that they can have a chance at good vision, too.
- Astigmatism: Astigmatism means that someone has an imperfection in the curvature of their eyes which impacts their vision. Normal contact lenses may not be suitable for individuals with astigmatism since their eyes may be shaped slightly differently; however, we offer a special type of contact lenses, also known as Scaleral Lenses to fit these patients properly.
- Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis (GPC): This condition causes patients’ eyelids to become swollen, which makes it difficult to fit regular contact lenses. Protein build-up on the lenses may also cause the condition to worsen. We work with patients with GPC to ensure a proper fit.
- Presbyopia: Individuals with presbyopia often need two different types of lenses in one, which means that traditional contact lenses do not work with their condition. However, we’re happy to work with our clients to find the right solution for them.
What to Expect During a Contact Lens Fitting
At Eye Wares, we aim to make the contact lens fitting process as simple as possible. Before anything else, we’ll be asking you some questions about your personal life and medical history to assess what kind of lenses are most suitable for your lifestyle. Kindly disclose any medical conditions you may have to make the process faster and easier.
We will measure your eyes — specifically, your iris, pupils, and the curve of your eyes — to determine the ideal size and type of lens for your eyes. We will also perform a tear film evaluation to ensure that your eyes produce enough moisture to accommodate your contact lenses and keep your eyes from drying out.
